Amaya Valdemoro: “Everyone has a talent, identify it is the key"

Amaya Valdemoro is the best Spanish basketball female player of all time. Withdrawal after 22 years playing in Spain and the US, among others, she has now adopted the journalist role.

At laagam we admire her capacity of effort and resistance; surrendering does not fit with Amaya’s personality. Dreams will be achieved if we are constant 24/7. Amaya said that we should run away from stereotypes and show ourselves as we are.

“Vulnerability, fear and perseverance: these are three key words for me”.

The sportist professional life is super sacrificed. Moreover, female sports is considered a minority sport, a sport that does not generate resources because it has little visibility; although, it has started to change.

“As sportists, we lose out a lot but we live experiences that nobody can live”.

“My withdrawal was very hard; a professional athlete has a structured life and nowadays it has changed a lot. Now, in my day-to-day, I have to be updated about basketball news but I love it”.

Moreover, Amaya is active in social media trying to be as transparent as possible showing herself as she is.

Amaya has had difficulties while finding clothes and especially shoes. She loves fashion but she loves her sporty style: you do not need to wear heels to feel you feminist.

"All my life I have worn tracksuits so I want to be comfortable”.

let's make this our summer

What's really important, you ask yourself?

The sea-salty hair, the summer songs we can't stop dancing to, the tanned boys whose hearts we break in September...

And then the greatest form of happiness: the laughter with friends.

quote of the week

Nina Urgell: "I'm a fan of the nude woman's image; it has been a source of inspiration".

Nina Urgell is a fashion, music and photography lover based in Barcelona. Although she studied psychology at the Blanquerna University, she has been working with large luxury and fashion firms as her image while traveling around the world.

At laagam, we love the aesthetic taste she has; Nina has become her Instagram gallery into a real art gallery.

"In my Instagram profile, everything has to have coherence; I’ve tried to combine art, fashion and photography including landscapes between".

She has reached success without having to sell his own private life; she has maintained herself apart from the social media exposure only showing her professional life.

“I have never wanted to become a public figure; it is very difficult being able to transmit your personality through photography. What I have tried to share is inspirational content; communicating through images”.

Nina has an exceptional sense of romanticism in front of nude photos; she has been able to become them into natural images. She feels secure not having tabus, complexes or barriers imposed by the society.

“I support any type of naked in any kind of context. I do and wear what I love because it is my body, it is my reputation and I do not care about what others think; you can not like everyone. The important thing is loving yourself, because otherwise you cannot love others ".

"I've always done the things that I like. Everyone has to be happy with oneself”.

dazz guide of Madrid

Laagam just opened its doors at the spanish capital. Here’s what your need to know if you are traveling to the city any time soon.

Out of all the places to stay in the city, here are some of our favorites:

  • Vincci de mint: located in the heart of Madrid's Gran Vía. The establishment offers the visitor an innovative avant-garde concept signed by the famous interior designer Jaime Beriestain, who has respected the essence of the building by providing his particular style. Its originality surprises and is perceived immediately by entering the hotel.
  • Bastardo hostel: An ecosystem created for enjoyment in which you can attend a concert or a screening of a cutting-edge film, watch an exhibition, chat having a drink with Madrid-s rooftops in the background, share a good meal with friends and, of course, also to stay.
  • Silken Hotel Puerta América: a 5 star hotel located near the center of Madrid, is a special place that invites those who visit to dream. A unique project that has brought together nineteen of the best architects and designers in the world, and has the luxury of having three Pritzker prizes (Norman Foster, Zaha Hadid and Jean Nouvel). Each of the 12 floors proposes a different room concept, they all play with different materials, colors and shapes creating a surprising space for the senses, an incomparable sensory experience. A museum where you can enjoy and relax.
  • Ilunion suites: Located less than a block from Alfonso XIII metro station, 2.1 km from the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and 5 km from the Prado Museum.
  • Eric Vokel boutique apartments: tourist apartments with Nordic design and Mediterranean soul.
  • The Walt: modern condos in the heart of Madrid, just 150 meters from the famous Gran Vía.

Breakfast it’s important, but during the summer we sometimes sleep in and loose track of time. Stop and brunch then!

  • Federal Café: original breakfasts, pastries and varied cuisine in a diaphanous local chic with Scandinavian style.
  • Dray Martina: offers an informal concept in a very chic environment and vintage decoration to eat a simple offer, with a continuous schedule any day of the week. In the menus, there are dishes to share, such as croquettes of jerky, spinach and pear, before options such as the breaded chicken sandwich or the meat burger of Guadarrama; or desserts like cheesecake, served in a glass jar.
  • Marieta: with an industrial design and a open kitchen view you’ll find all kind of mediterranean dishes and brunch service.

It’s time for some shopping, where to? From vintage to high-fashion, Madrid has it all! Some of our favorite shopping areas:

  • Malasaña: the coolest neighborhood for the most amazing vintage and cute little stores and nice restaurants.
  • Alonso Martínez: being the union point between very different areas such as Chamberí and Chueca you can find this colorful square dedicated to the Spanish jurist and politicians. From this fusion of neighborhoods are born flea markets, bars, restaurants and boutiques that are scattered through the streets of Alonso Martínez all mixed up in one. At night the indie, rock and jazz are the protagonists of the neighborhood.
  • Serrano: one of the most famous streets in Madrid with all high fashion stores and glamorous restaurants.

Cool places you CAN NOT miss if you are around...

  • Laagam’s guideshop: visit our newly open guideshop! Try out our products and have them immediately shipped home.
  • Ghost station Chamberí:one of the scariest places in town,  a haunted metro station for those who like a bit of adrenaline.
  • Templo de Debod: an egyptian temple from the 2nd century BC. d. C. located at Parque del Cuartel de la Montaña.
  • Crystal Palace: an incredible crystal structure located in one of the most famous and beautiful parks of Madrid.
  • La terraza de Oscar: beautiful rooftop in Chueca,  on eof the nicest pools in Madrid and the best bartenders! Always a nice, mellow crowd, good drinks, and the best view.

One of the best things about Madrid it’s definitely it’s gastronomy, try some of these delicious restaurants and let us know your thoughts.

  • Juana la loca: best omelets in town as well as spanish classic tapas.
  • Taquería mi ciudad: in the mood for tacos, don’t think it twice and stop by.
  • Taberna Loredo: this space is a tasca of all life to which culture is added to its concept. It combines food and culture creating a very cool and chic environment
  • El imparcial: besides the exquisite cuisine in this restaurant what makes it unique is that it is located in an old newspaper, with most of the structure conserved. Highly recommended.
  • Amazónico: it'sdifferent environments allow you to enjoy the restaurant at any time of the day, either with a light lunch, tapas at the bar, savoring your cocktails or a restful dinner. It has a Jazz club on the basment too, for those who like to dance after a nice meal.

Besides food and shopping there are many other things you can do in this city

  • El Prado museum: this museum presides over one of the most visited tourist itineraries of the capital: the Art Walk. In addition to Las meninas de Velázquez and Los fusilamientos of May 3 of Goya, masterpieces from Spanish, Italian and Flemish schools can be seen in their rooms. It has a valuable collection of 8,600 paintings and more than 700 sculptures. It’s a must!
  • Thyssen Bornemisza museum: inside, we can find universal jewels of painting, from the Flemish and Italian until the twentieth century.
  • Go to the theatre: there are many musicals and theatre plays going on every night in the city, so if you would like to enjoy a different night i’m sure you’ll find one of your taste.

Looking for some action at night, i’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Madrid is known to  be a very charming as well as fun place when the sun goes down.

  • Graf: an almost private club due to the exclusivity and entrance requirements. this is where glamorous people attend when they want to spend the night out.
  • Fortuny: multifunctional space in Madrid where you can enjoy from a lunch / dinner in our restaurant, a cocktail in the afternoon, have a drink on the terrace or enjoy the latest music at night as it transforms into a nightclub.
  • Gunilla: what could be more  impressive than an Art Deco club. Designed by Interior Studio, the club respects the theatrical architecture of the space and updates it with furniture created exclusively with artisan details.

We hope this guide helps you! Write us your feedback if you do any of our plans!

quote of the week

Alejandra Meler: “I try to think if I would wear it or not”

Alejandra Meler is an entrepreneur based in Barcelona known to be the founder of Robin Collection, an online bikini Brand.

At Laagam we really support powerful and determined woman, and she fits perfectly into this description. Not to mention we are huge fans of her bikinis.

Alejandra studied ADE at the University of Barcelona and took some fashion courses at Felicidad Duce.

“I always thought I’d work in business , but I wanted to do something related to fashion as I’ve always been very passionate about it. I really don’t know If I would have chosen to make bikinis but it’s what life has given me. "

She started up sewing bikinis at home for herself until she saw that people started getting interested on her pieces. That’s when she partnered up with his brother to formally create the brand we know today.

Her brand is online based, and recognizes that social networks have been a great help when she wanted to communicate her work.

"We have to thank Instagram for everything that has done for us.  It has helped us grow, communicate and expand our brand and ideas.”

Alejandra believes in the importance of naturalness.  She doesn’t like to use Instagramers or professional models for her campaigns, but rather to use regular girls so that her clients can feel identified and see themselves wearing her bikinis.

When it’s time to create, her major inspiration comes from herself.  She tries to create things she and her clients would wear, rather than getting influence from other brands.

“I try to think if my clients would wear it, or not, or more like if I would wear it or not”.

Recently she has hired a few more people on her team to help her and brother. The brand keeps growing and what started as a game is not anymore.

Alejandra has recently become a mom and to the end of the conversation shares her thoughts about the paper of women at work and how we are slowly starting to make some progress.

“You don’t simply disappear because you become a mom. I started working just 15 days after giving birth.”

dazz guide of New York city

Who is up for a trip to the city that never sleeps this spring?
Here’s what you need to know if you are traveling to the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. These tips come from Carla, our content creator who lived there for a year.
First you should know what’s indispensable before you take the plane:
  • Dollars: actual US currency
  • English: the mother language in the state of NY
  • Documents: your Passport and an ESTA (Electronic System Travel Authorisation)
There’s plenty of places to stay in the city, here are some of our favorites:
I’m sure you’ll be hungry after such a long flight... ready for a brunch? or just a snack?
  • Pastis: a french restaurant which appears in the famous TV show ‘Sex in the City’. Located in the heart of Meatpacking district.
  • Dean and Deluca: a an American chain of upscale grocery stores. Great to have a snack when you are in a rush.
  • Magnolia Bakery: the most delicious cupcakes and pies you’ll ever try!
  • Hot dog and pretzel stand: ready to eat in a minute!
It’s time for some shopping. Where to? New York City has a vast variety of places and shops for everyone to discover, some of the best shopping areas:
  • Soho: the coolest neighborhood for the most amazing vintage and cute little stores, but also for high fashion and nice restaurants.
  • Chinatown: you’ll find the best fakes here, from bags to clothes and jewelry too.
  • 5th ave: wanna have breakfast at Tiffany’s or feel as Blair and Serena walking around the most expensive stores in town? This is your street.
In New york you’ll find stores from every type and every color… some of our favourite ones are...
  • Opening Ceremony: one of the coolest stores in Soho, the best street style brands!
  • Smorgasburg: outdoors market in Brooklyn by the Hudson River. Incredible views of NY's skyline.
  • Prada store in Soho: Prada epicenter as an exclusive boutique. Also used as a public space for performances and as a laboratory. Worth taking a look!
There are many types of food in NY, so you’ll always find a restaurant for your taste. Here’s some of my favorite places to sit and have dinner:
  • The Mercer Kitchen: located in Soho’s heart, Chef Jean-Georges' American menu features market-driven, seasonal ingredients prepared in a simple yet elegant style.
  • Lombardi's pizza: for delicious Italian food, it was the first ever pizzeria in the United States!
  • Balthazar: from the same owners as Pastis, exquisite french cuisine.
New york is known as the city that never sleeps dude to the many different activities you can do...
  • Broadway: go watch a Broadway musical and spend a magical night with your traveling mates.
  • Helicopter ride: fly over the Hudson river and NY’s skyline. Advice: for cheaper tickets book online!
  • The MoMA and Met museums:  this is a MUST for art lovers and crazy artists!
  • Empire State: get to the rooftop for the most breathtaking views of the city
  • NY Knicks: go watch the Knicks at Madison Square Garden for an afternoon full of tension and lots of fun.
  • A tour around the Bronx: get rider and a guide and drive around one of the most dangerous country in the state of NY. Do not do this alone.
Are you a party animal? Here are some cool places to go at night (Don’t forget that it’s not allowed to drink alcohol in the States if you’re under 21!)
  • Marquee Club: here you’ll find loud dj’s an awesome environment, but get ready to spend some money.
  • Provocateur: nightlife oasis offering an alluring and seductive ambiance designed by Lionel Ohayon.
  • Rooftop 93: if you are looking for a chiller plan.
  • Jimmy: glitzy Manhattan à la “Sex and the City". Recommended by Forbes and Vogue.

quote of the week

music for the weekend 🎶

Anna Pacheco: 'Feminism still exist because we haven't reached gender equality."

Anna Pacheco is a young journalist based in Barcelona, known for her articles about social matters like feminism, racism and social classes.

At laagam we are huge fans of her articles, devouring every piece of writing she publishes in Playground. Thoughts that always make you think over, like when she went undercover at the Mobile World Congress to show how toxic masculinity is still shaping the business world.

She also collaborates with RNE4 radio program Preferències and has contributed to VICE, El Periódico and the musical fanzine Shookdown.

Anna studied Journalism at Pompeu Fabra University. She was lectured on the academical journalism where the voice of the writer is always hidden. A type of journalism she doesn’t agree with and she, as a new voice of our generation, is transforming quickly.

Her way of writing is clear and concise, she never hides.

“Journalism must be politically committed because nowadays there is no impartial press. Every media has an ideology and we even read them to reaffirm ourselves. That’s why I think journalism must be political: because there are things we shouldn’t hide, even more if you are a female journalist.”

She is aware of how our generation has broken the rules of tradition. We consume information in a different way, our values and the way we understand our society are more open than before.

“For example Operación Triunfo, a reality show produced by the stuck in the past public television, has given visibility to a new generation that is changing the rules of the game. We even feel old if we hear how youngsters 13 or 14 years old define themselves as polyamory and genderqueer. However, there are still people and media who ignore this reality.”

March has been an historical month for women and Anna has lived it with the emotion of a kid the night before Christmas. The 8th March she was part of the historical feminist strike that paralyzed Spain, and during the day she participated in activities with feminist associations, always paying attention to what was going on on social media.

“I had an strange but exciting feeling knowing that we were all doing something historic. The protest was full of young girls with feminist slogans. It was a very important day.”

#quieroynopuedo is a hashtag that became viral for Women’s Day through which women could express why they couldn’t go on strike.

Before that day, Anna spent a lot of time preparing articles about feminism and against sexism. She is developing a very important educational work to raise awareness on what is and what is not feminism.

“Feminism is not a movement we have created. It already existed before we got here and it will continue to exist because we haven't reached gender equality."

Anna always gets inspired by real-life women like her mother or her grandma. But also by her friends’ posts on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Something she calls 'a new narrative' that makes her laugh, cry and think.

we lower our prices thanks to you

A year and a half ago laagam was born in a garage.

Like most beginnings it was difficult at first. We had no power to negotiate with the factories. It was very difficult to give you the best quality for an affordable price.

So thanks to the +3.000 dazzling girls who have supported laagam. 17 months later, you have helped us grow. Without your support it would be impossible to reduce today our prices for all.

laagam inspires girls to take the world by storm. That’s why we have to be accessible.

The more dazzling girls we are, the better our quality and prices.

This is what a Sisterhood is made of.

Thanks for believing in us.

laagam x the south face: help girls transform Kenya

For Women’s Day, we want to empower women through education.

Over the years, Kenya has made significant progress in gender parity in education. Despite this progress, traditional ideas about women restrict their access to university. Most families can’t pay for their children’s education; and as a patriarchal society, they prioritize boys’ education when having financial problems.

We want to give Kenyan girls the chance to continue their studies and change their society for the better.

Because having more women in leadership positions boosts the economy and enriches the countries.

This initiative is supported by The South Face, an NGO that supports girls in Kenya without resources to go to university. Together, we have designed the Kenya notebook, because an educated sisterhood will lead to a stronger society. Funds raised from the sale will be donated to this NGO. Of what is collected from each notebook, half is contributed by your purchase and the other half by laagam.

This notebook is available at laagam.com.

Now we can say we are changing Kenya together.

Sofia Ellar: 'If you don’t believe in your project, no one else will.'

Sofia Ellar, of Spanish origin, was born in London and is based right now in Madrid. Singer and songwriter, she is a reference for the new generations. By her own merits, her voice and lyrics have reached the top of all lists.

The Sofia Ellar project began with her University thesis:

'When I started studying I realised that there was a market gap in the music industry, so I decided to put all my efforts and execute my plan.'

In the left, Sofía is wearing our french feast blouse. On the right, our dark crêpe pants.

After finishing university, Sofía threw herself into writing lyrics. Despite their family's advice of getting an office job, all she wanted to do was writing and singing:

'I knew that with patience and time my project was going to get ahead. If you don’t believe in your ideas, no one else will.'

Sofia bets on the 'low-cost philosophy', the 'do it yourself' way. Her first album, Seis Peniques, was recorded with her band in a very home-made way. For her second album, Nota en Do, she continued trusting her band:

'Many artists contract professional musicians to record their albums, but we have remained together and given everything for this project. We couldn’t be happier with the result and our evolution.'

In Spain, new artists like C Tangana, Rosalía or Taburete are regenerating the musical scene and Sofía Ellar is also part of it. Even if their styles are very different, they are all targeting the same audience.

Sofía doesn’t want to be pigeonholed into a single style. She wants to face her musical project from a different perspective:

'I want to face it from an entrepreneurial and indie point of view, because 'indie' means independent, not just alternative'

dazz guide of Paris

The city of lights, the city of love, the capital of fashion... Paris is always a good idea.

It's buildings, it's museums, it's arrondisements... Here you have a list of recommendations from a real Parisian: Caroline, our Art Director at laagam.

Take note of her tips to enjoy Paris!

Places to eat

Pink Mamma and Mamma Primi belong to the same culinary group. High quality Italian cuisine with ingredients directly brought from Italy for a very attractive price. Don't miss the cocktails.

Sinople: a tropical jungle in the middle of Paris.

- Le garde temps:bistronomie restaurant with a menu that changes every month.

- Foyer Vietnam: chefs from Vietnam cooking for a good reason: helping people from their country of origin.

- Kong: japanese-french fusion cuisine in a restaurant designed by Philippe Stark. Incredible views over the Seine river.

Les bols de Jean: bread bowls filled with whatever you want.

- Hôtel Costes: the place to have dinner (specially) in Fashion Week.

Places to drink

Le Comptoir Général: one of the coolest places in Paris. A hidden pub by the Canal Saint-Martin. The decoration is very eclectic, the cocktails awesome and there are also live concerts!

La Recyclerie: to eat and to drink. This place is located inside an old tram station.

Brasserie Barbès: brasserie with an industrial look. As French say, a "bobo" place ('buorgeois-bohéme'). This place is the sign of how Montmartre is changing into a more popular neighborhood. From the rooftop you can admire the Sacré Coeur.

Martin - Boire et Manger: the perfect Planche Apéro: specialist butcher's and cheeses.

Places to chase the golden light

- Café Oz Rooftop: next to Le Seine, the rooftop of la Cité de la Mode et du Design.

- Le perchoir-maraisreally nice rooftop with views over l'Hôtel de Ville de Paris.

- Mama Shelterfunny rooftop with ping-pong tables and table football.

- Le 43: cool rooftop with cooler views of the Eiffel Tower.

Places to brunch

je brunch, et vous?

- Les Chouettes: great place to go with friends because it feels like home. It is decorated like an industrial place, but with really nice details.

- Paperboy: delicious brunch. Caroline's favorite. Despite the long queue, this brunch worths it.

- Marcelle: brunch for the cool kids in Montmartre.

Things to do

- Centre Pompidou - Le Beaubourg: the museum of contemporary art. Designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers.

- La Fondation Louis Vuitton:  designed by Frank Ghery, the Louis Vuitton foundation is a place where you can find music, paintings, photographies and much more.

- La Maison de la Photographie: dans le Marais, they host great exhibitions there.

- Fondation pour l'Art Contemporainin Montparnasse, the foundation is of Cartier.

- Le Grand Palais: another unmissable must in the city of lights.

- Les Marché des Enfants Rouges: charming market where you can eat food from different countries.

Places to stay

- Hotel Molitor:  an emblematic place in Paris. The most famous pool in the city. This piscine from the 30's was abandoned 10 years ago, and was all painted with graffitis. Now they have remodeled it into an incredible hotel.

- Ekta: fine designed hotel next to Les Champs Élysées.

- Mamma Shelter: a new hotel chain born in France with super cool design.

Places to shop

- Le Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen: it's very popular to say in french "aller chiner", what means find the very good deals. This is the most emblematic vintage market of Paris, where you can find real treasures!

- Merci: concept store near La Bastille. Fashion and design coexist in this cool place.

- La Cloackroom: dêpot-vente of cool brands at good prices.

quote of the week

why laagam thinks dating today is awkward

According to Cambridge Dictionary, “dating” means: a social meeting planned before it happens, especially one between two people who have or might have a romantic relationship.

But… what does it mean to be in a “romantic relationship” today?

Friends? Boyfriend? Sex-friends?

We don’t understand what kind of relationship we have with each other; it has become very difficult to understand one’s intentions or feelings with all that omnipresent communication going on. Our strategic responses are source of constant misunderstanding: we withhold our responses to show how busy, important, and unattached we are, even when we are not. Even the emoji stuff, designed to easily express complex emotions, it’s getting more and more muddy. The worst is that waving hand. Do you mean “Ciao”? Or “Hello”? Or, “Talk to my hand”? Hard to know.

Have I got privacy, or he knows everything about me?

Screenshotting, liking pictures, texting, calling, sharing music, sharing location… We have a phone linked to our body, and it’s overwhelming. After a few days and 50GB spent, I don’t care what he does in his free time!

Can we have a little bit of privacy back? Personally, I don’t want to know all about his private life before I get to know the sound of his laugh. There’s already too much information on my brain about his friends, family, house, job, pets…his fake abs.

We are absolutely obsessed with immediacy.

When he doesn’t text you back immediately, we say to ourselves: “It’s alright”, “I’m fine”, “I’m okay”, but at the bottom we’re just smiling through the pain. Why are we so anxious?

The problem here is immediacy. We’ve got used to respond and wait in ranges of one minute maximum. We can totally forget to respond to someone, or the opposite, respond twice. We even do so in the wrong conversation. We’re texting dirty things to our boss when they’re addressed to our crush!

Should we go back to the past?

Are we really glad to receive digital roses or faces winking at us? Is this our idea of romance? Should we go back to writing passionate love letters?

We tend to assume that all this endless embarrassment in dating is part of the 2.0 Era, but it’s not. Tell Jane Austen about baffling glances, stuttering proposals or corny letters. There’s no point in going back and sheltering in nostalgia; love has always been a thorny business. Nowadays we simply have more tools to ludicrously pursue our romantic endeavors.

Dating is hard, and awkward, and it destroys your nerves. But you can do this. It’s weird, but you just have to get used to it. Drink a glass of wine, whatever helps you. Heartbreak and disappointment are part of life and therefore a part of dating.

Mireia Ruiz: 'Women should do more networking.'

Mireia Ruiz is an artist and the Creative Director of Cocolia Studio. She also teaches creativity at IDEP Barcelona.

When she was a teenager, it was very hard for her to make a decision on what to study. She really wanted to immerse herself in the art world, but her parents weren't very supportive.

'For me, considering that I didn't have the support of my family, it was unreachable to express myself artistically.'

Luckily, her high-school teacher recommended her to study Graphic Design.

Mireia is wearing our no boyfriend shirt in white.

Mireia is a polyvalent artist, she has a lot of facets. From painting walls to creating prints for shirts and foulards, she always has a brush on her hands. She is known by the powerful use of color explosions in her paintings. When she was a child, her mum was obsessed with dressing her all color-matched. This stayed with her. That's why all the artwork she does is colorful.

'This color obsession really touched me; and it's something that I use a lot in my work. But not only me. There are many artists that nowadays follow this colorful trend. I think it's an art movement that has appeared to cheer us up from the difficult times we have passed in the last years.'

'Without Instagram I wouldn’t have started to explore my artistic side. Instagram for me is a container where I put all my artistic exercises.'

She describes herself as a feminist artist, she thinks that women today must be the role model for the next generation because equality hasn’t been achieved yet.

'We all need to feel identified with feminism, to fight for equality and help each other. For example, I felt really comfortable working with laagam. Women should do more networking as men do at 'men's clubs'; stop seeing each other as competitors and bet on women.'

dazz guide of Barcelona

As born in barcelona, we always get questions from people on what to do in this city.

So we wrote down a few tips on what to do around here.

Places to drink:

We love bar-hopping from one neighborhood to another. Our favorites:

- 33/45: in carrer Joaquín Costa, in el Raval. A really nice area to bar-hop. Don't miss El Marsella, a bar from the late years of 1800 that remains exactly the same as it was in the past.

- Pastrami bar and Paradiso: have an Aperol in el Borne and try to discover the hidden bar inside this place. Nearby, you can also visit Bar Número 9

- La Caseta del Migdia: perfect place to vermut if you are strolling around the castle of Montjuic. Views over the Mediterranean sea.

To brunch:

After a night of bar crawling, and considering that sometimes we find ourselves dancing in Apolo or Razzmatazz until the sun rises, the best way to become a human being again is going for a brunch.

Among our favorite places to brunch in the city there are:

- Brunch and Cake: dishes and juices as colorful as delicious.

- Federal Café in the Gothic Quarter: next to the beautiful Passatge de la Pau. Perfect dishes for brunch, but the Mac'n'cheese with apple stole my heart.

- The Juice House: veggielicious.

Things to do:

Barcelona is a city full of art. Walking in the street is like being in an open-air museum. Anyway, there are plenty of things to do.

- Visit CaixaForum (Warhol exhibition until December the 31st) and HG Gallery in front of Casa de les Punxes.

- BeConcept store: in Carrer Calvet, a concept store with a secret terrace.

- Mercat de la Princesa: a gastronomic market in the heart of el Borne with live music.

Places to chase the golden light:

One of the things we love the most of Barcelona are the views from the heights. Some of them are closed during the winter, so check it out before going.

- Cotton House Hotel: a charming terrace full of banana trees.

- Yurbban Hotel in Trafalgar street.

- La Dolce Vitae: the terrace of the Majestic Hotel in Passeig de Gràcia with views over the most beautiful modernist buildings.

Places to shop:

As we said before, Barcelona is an artful city. All across the city there are independent shops where you can find exclusive design and fashion items.

Among our favorite places to shop: BeConcept Store, Boto&Co in Jardinets de Gràcia, Gema Sachs next to Turó Park and Coquette, in el Born.

Darial: a temporary store with the finest brands in Passatge del Camps Elisis. Designed by Guillermo Santomá, go find in this awesome place what they call the luxury guerrilla style.

(By the way, we are about to open our new showroom the 14th December in Passatge Marimón 23)

Places to eat:

Eating in Barcelona is a major pleasure.

Our picks: arrte restaurant in Eixample. Live music concerts every week and art exhibitions.

Santa Gula, in the neighborhood of Gràcia, is perfect for having lunch or dinner. Local Mediterranean cuisine.

La Terraza Martinez is next to Montjuic. It has awesome views over the city, as breathtaking as the paella and arroz negro they cook. With no doubt one of our unmissable.

We also recommend to have some tapas in Bar Cañete in the heart of El Raval; and have a toast with cava in La Xampanyeria, a classic spot next to Barceloneta.

For having a vermut, don't miss El Sifó d'en Garriga near Casa Lleó i Morera.

Nice places to sleep:

- Praktik Hotel: in Rambla de Catalunya, this hotel is inside an historic building.

- Midmost Hotel in the city centre, next to Las Ramblas.

- Margot House in Passeig de Gràcia, with views to Casa Battló.

We hope this guide helps you! Write us your feedback if you do any of our plans!
